Mr. McDonald has taught for 26 years in the San Antonio area.
He is currently in his eighth year as assistant director of bands at
Judson High School. His duties include directing the jazz bands,
Concert Band 2 and assisting with the marching band. He also teaches
saxophone and jazz band at Texas Lutheran University. Mr. McDonald
holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Texas Tech University and a
master's degree from Texas State University. He is the Region XII Jazz
Chairman and is a member of IAJE, Texas Music Educators Association and
Texas Bandmasters Association. Mr. McDonald's wife, Cindy, is a drama teacher at Reagan High School. Mr. and Mrs. McDonald have five children with one still at home.
Dean Ponseti -Director of Percussion
Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana (Creole Country), Dean graduated from Brother Martin High School, an all boys
catholic school run by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. It was here that
he received his first musical training in percussion studying with Marty
Hurley, international known rudimental snare drummer and percussionist (His
Band Director). He received a Bachelor's in Music Education studying with Mike Mann and Adam Mason, from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, home of the Ragin’ Cajuns (Cajun Country). He received his MA from Eastern Illinois University as a graduate assistant in Bands and Percussion where he studied with Johnny Lee Lane.
He marched with the World Champion Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle
Corps for three years (1989-1991) in which he won theMidwest Snare Drum Individuals Competition. He
placed second at the Drum Corps International Snare Drum
Individuals Competition in Dallas ,
Texas . He has ranked
second in the World as the Percussive Arts Society International
Convention Snare Drum Individuals champion (1991, 1992, and 1994).
Dean also has the opportunity to teach over 300 students at the
United States
Percussion Camp with some of the most renown
professional percussionists in the industry today.
Currently, Dean is the Assistant Director of Percussion of Judson ISD inConverse, TX. He is the director of the Judson Drumline,
Percussion Ensemble, and Director of Percussion Education for the entire
district.
Alan Greulich -Band Director
Alan Greulich is in his first year as Assistant Director of Bands at Judson High School. His responsibilities include direction of the third band and assisting with all other performing groups. A brass specialist, Mr. Greulich is a native of Clifton, New Jersey, where he graduated from Clifton High School.
Mr. Greulich received his bachelor of music degree in music education at James Madison University and his master of music degree in euphonium performance at the University of North Texas. At UNT, Mr. Greulich was a student of Dr. Brian Bowman and studied conducting with Dennis Fisher, Eugene Corporon, and Jack Stamp as a participant in the UNT Conducting Collegium in 2008.
As a performer, Mr. Greulich has been featured as a soloist with the award winning and nationally competitive James Madison University brass band at both the Virginia Music Educators Association Conference in 2005and at the Great American Brass Band Festival in 2006. At UNT, Mr. Greulich performed with the wind symphony and can be heard on the GIA recording,” Teaching Music through Performance in Band," Volume 7. In 2008, Mr. Greulich was named as a finalist in the International Leonard Falcone Euphonium Competition.
Mr. Greulich is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society, Texas Music Educators Association, and the Texas Bandmasters Association.

Jeffrey Keyes -Band Director
Mr. Keyes comes to us from Akins High School in Austin where he taught for one year. Originally from the Dallas area, Mr. Keyes attended Colleyville Heritage High School and graduated from Texas State University in 2007. At Texas State, Mr. Keyes was principal euphonium in the Wind Ensemble, trombone in the Orchestra, baritone section leader, drum major, as well as field and visual coordinator of the Bobcat Marching Band. He is also a very fine guitarist. In addition, he marched one year with the Carolina Crown drum and bugle corps and two years with the world champion, Cavaliers drum and bugle corps.
